This is the first blog for EdWare USA which specialises in educational and multimedia software. My geography software series has been a huge success and continues to gain momentum.
EdWare USA launched Know Your USA in May of this year and I have continued to improve the software over the past number of months. Know Your USA is a software application designed to help users expand their knowledge of USA geography. All geographic features of the USA are covered in detail: regions, states, state capitals, major cities, rivers, mountains and lakes.
The biggest news since the launch was the awarding of the Editors Choice Award by Children's Technology Review in their July 2006 issue. This was followed up by a small feature in Parade Magazine in August. The press coverage received from the two magazines was great and helped launch Know Your USA. I am currently working on version 1.2.1 which is a small update and will fix a few bugs and should be uploaded onto our site shortly.
Recently I have been working on Know Your World which will be available to download before Christmas, I hope. Know Your World follows the same learning system as Know Your USA but introduces users to world topics such as: continents, major cities, oceans & seas, deserts, rivers, mountains, lakes, volcanoes and much more.
Over the coming months there will be a big drive to get Know Your USA into classrooms, libraries and homes across the United States. I also plan to merge KnowYourUSA.net with EdWareUSA.com and offer more on-line games and easy access to our software. This will take a while but should make everything more easily available.
